Why does someone commit theft? Who decides whether a person is punished for a crime? What does a day in prison look like? Do you have to cook for yourself in prison? And why don’t prisoners carry cash?
If you’ve ever wondered about these things, this is the book for you. It covers -almost - everything there is to know about crime and punishment. Prof. Dr. Charlotte Colman takes you on a deep dive into the fascinating world of criminology. She explains how laws are made, why some people break the rules, and how people were punished in the Middle Ages. Did you know they used to believe evil spirits and forces tempted people into committing crimes?
Charlotte also tells you about the most notorious escape attempts, the biggest criminal cases in history, and other crime-related fun facts.
Stefanie Van Hertem’s colourful illustrations bring the world of criminology to life. Curious already? This riveting book is the start of your discovery journey!
